[Bug 297449] Re: Intel 945GM Fails with Intel Driver when Compiz is Enabled

Using compiz from the launchpad repository at: http://ppa.launchpad.net/compiz/ubuntu , and having all plugins installed (including main, extra, and unsupported) I went through and checked each plugin to see if it would crash the xserver.  As it turns out, the only one that did was "magnifier".  It has been reported to do this action by others on other forums:

and there is a launchpad bug with a similar problem, although the driver is not specified in their xorg.conf files. Its link is:

I think that it is still a problem with the driver, because "magnifier"
functions well on the i810 driver and not on the intel driver,
indicating that the driver is the factor which causes the crash.  Since
I did not test every option for every plugin, it is quite possible that
there are other plugins that if configured in a certain way would also
crash the xserver.
