When it comes to the software (so I am not talking about this package) I really advise you to replace version 2.3.2 by 2.4.1. This version also provides proper support for USB keyboards.
It indeed fixes the logout problem:
"XCloseDisplay is not called anymore, because on some systems it may not return from this call."

The 2.3.2 Ubuntu package has its own script (by that I mean that it's
different from the script when you install keytouch from source) that
launches keytouchd. For the 2.3.2 package the logout problem has also
been fixed by a new version of that script. So I suggest to use that
script for the 2.4.1 package.
