[Bug 310414] [NEW] some keyboard shortcuts not working when menus are opened (lenovo n200)

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Intrepid - 2.6.27-11-generic - Gnome 2.24.1

On a lenovo 3000 n200, the keyboard shortcuts for the sound and going to sleep are nor working if a pop-down menu is active. Nothing happens and nothing shows on screen.
On my keyboard, the shortcuts are Fn+Esc, Fn+F1, and Fn+F2 for sound (respectively mute, down, and up), and Fn+F4 for suspend.

The shortcuts for the backlight work but nothing is displayed on screen
like it does when no pop-down menu is active.

I don't know if it's really a bug but it might explain why I sometimes
have to press Fn+Esc twice before it goes mute (then it works as it
should).

I'm not use to report bugs so please let me know if there's any other
information I should provide here.

** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
