Yes, the speaker and microphone volume control sliders in the Audacity
toolbar do not work in Intrepid -- and did not work in Hardy either. I
always wondered what they were for...

have to build Audacity with ./configure --with-portaudio=v19 --without-
portmixer, and the file audacity-1.3.5/debian/rules includes those
options. The menu Help > About Audacity > Build information indicats
that PortMixer support is disabled.
I assume this is why the sliders do not work.
