[Bug 307799] [NEW] checkinstall "mkdir -p" fails to create directory

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: checkinstall

This is on ubuntu intrepid, 32bit.

When using checkinstall, it aborts with a failure to create directory,
giving a message like the following:

#
test -z "/usr/local/share/pekwm/themes/default" || /bin/mkdir -p "/usr/local/share/pekwm/themes/default"
#
/bin/mkdir: cannot create directory `/usr/local/share/pekwm': No such file or directory

making the directory manually, with sudo, works just fine, and allows
checkinstall to proceed past that point of failure (until it hits the
next one). thus, a single checkinstall procedure requires several manual
mkdir steps in order to let it finish.

let know if you need more information.
