I don't use compositing on the desktop but I'm having the same lousy
performance after upgrading to the Jaunty alpha.  My system has Intel's
965 graphics.

I attempted to run Sauerbraten which normally gets about 45 fps and got
less than 1 fps.  I also attempted to run Google Earth which threw an
error about running OpenGL in software but, while slow as all hell, at
least didn't lock up when I attempted to open my image overlays and
shows all the letters and numbers it's supposed to. (See the other bug
report I have active)

Do you want copies from my computer of the information that Kevin Lange
gave you?
