In my case, the files are from a D50.  And from what I've noticed, it is
trackerd that is causing this, and I think you have to have your NEF
files set to be opened by UFRaw by default.

So there are a couple workarounds that people can try:
1)  Associate your NEF files with some other program, and use the right click menu to open them with UFRaw.

2) Add NEF files to trackerd's excluded files (System > Preferences >
Search and Indexing, Ignored Files tab)
