[Bug 304255] [NEW] Apps using openAL crash along with the sound system

Ever since I upgraded to Intrepid, I have been facing an issue with the
sound system, which I have discussed here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=994172

Editing /etc/openal/alsoft.conf and changing the device value in the
section titled [alsa] as below fixes it (at least for me).

device = pulse

However, it would be easier if the default settings handled this
automatically.
