It's reproducible on a freshly updated copy of Ubuntu 8.10.	
Here's the trivial example of loosing date when the current	
directly isn't writable:	

    cd $(mktemp -d)	
    chmod -w .	
    obexftp -c E: -c Data -G important.csv
