I find that a proper GTK+ application with a periodic table is lacking
in Ubuntu; KDE has Kalzium, and, while we do have gperiodic for GNOME,
it lacks quite a large array of features, and is pretty unstable (at
least for me).

I fell over gelemental; a much nicer GTK+ periodic table, released under
the GPL, which I'd like to see packaged by the MOTUs:
