Tested again in an up-to-date gutsy chroot on AMD64:

$ apt-cache unmet -i
[...]
Package bootcd-ia64 version 3.06ubuntu1 has an unmet dep:
 Depends: elilo

bootcd-ia64 is an "Arch: all" package while elilo exists only on i386
(according to packages.ubuntu.com). This unmet dependency will be
reported on all archs != i386.
