Are you sure? I thought everything is GPLed.

However, if you need alternative data, there is a GPLed (and really
professional) faction available here http://www.titusgames.de/ (it also
needs this resource in order to be playable:
http://glest.eurion.net/files/housing.tar.gz) and some community
contributed maps can be downloaded from
http://glest.eurion.net/files/maps/.

Also it would be great if you include the non-official translations,
available here: http://glest.eurion.net/files/langs/.

And it may be of interest that there's a fork working on multiplayer and
many minor fixes (http://sourceforge.net/projects/glevolution), but they
have not released anything yet.
