[Bug 33903] Jack won't connect to ALSA devices

I can confirm this. I have an edirol ua-25 usb midi/soundcard. It
registers and System-Preferences-Sound identifies it when its plugged
in. trying to start jackd -d alsa gives the following error:

Everything online says to run alsaconf to define the cards. I assume
that the alsa packages don't properly setup the cards in either
/etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc
