What I see in the buildlog is a failure of the x86_64 (so amd64) code.
Please not that in debian we found an ICE in gcc on amd64, see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=349268 .

So:
- does the  -falign-functions=4  fix the ICE on amd64?
- or is it a bug because we try to build the amd64 stuff in the
  i386 chroot on an amd64 machine?
