The amd64 issue appears to be not a crash. It just doesn't work. It has
been filed as bug 46273.

The PPC issue has been also reported to debian, see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=281491 . According to
Debian, the PPC issue is known to developers and they believe it has
been resolved, but it hasn't been. I have contacted upstream myself as
well.
