I'd be interested in seeing this fixed. 

Is there some system for checking the repo's for uninstallable packages? Seems to me that it would be a fairly simple task to analyse dependencies and flag any packages which have unresolved dependencies such as this. If not and people would be interested I may write one, though probably not at this moment since I am rather busy revising for finals :-(
