For Ubuntu 5.10, another workaround is to install the libSDL1.2debian-alsa
package from universe.  For 5.04, this only works if the asound.conf supplied
with libasound2 (/usr/share/doc/libasound2/examples/asound.conf_dmix) is copies
to /etc/asound.conf
