Audacity requires exclusive /dev/dsp access, and esd is still configured to grab
ALSA's OSS emulation nodes. Disable sound server start up in System>
Preferences> Sound, and change System> Preferences> Multimedia Systems Selector>
Default Audio Sink> customsink> alsasink device=plug:dmix
