Well, your patch requires that the user sets the correct driver in that
script (only madwifi is autodetected, and AFAIK it is not possible to
distinguish all driver types from the interface name), and after all,
/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf needs to be edited.

I'm using wpa_supplicant in /e/n/interfaces as pre-up and killing it
post-down without big trouble.
