    The pureadmin package doesn't seem to be compatible with the pure-
    ftpd version available in ubuntu. Also, the pureadmin package is
    very old.

    I downloaded and compiled version 0.2.2 from the pureadmin homepage
    (http://purify.sourceforge.net/) and it worked like a charm compared
    to the 0.1.11 version available in the repositories.
