I also want to comment on the platform of choice irc has never been an African thing, at least not in Southern Africa to my knowledge. I am not speaking officially and do not have statistics but I know a good number of people who are active in the ICT community and even they do not do irc that much. Seeing that the ubuntu community in Zimbabwe has gone fairly quiet I think this is a great initiative. I think we could do with some interaction from the larger communities in other parts of Africa. Note that I am not an official spokesperson for Zimbabwe LoCo in any way, this is just a personal reflection.
