I would like to thank everyone who participated in making the IT Show a huge success.  Although there were fewer stands this year and also fewer people visiting the show I feel that we once again ranked as the most popular stand on show.  I think that we must have handed out and burned in the region of 200cd's and over 50 dvd's.  Also handing out our pens to deserving individuals.  Our aim at shows like this is to get Ubuntu out there and spread the word and possibly convert as many people as possible, this I feel, we did in a big way.  On the Tuesday night (first day of the show) we held a cocktail party for our sponsors, team members and friends.  It was very nice to spend time with the people who believe in what we try and achieve and that there are people who, although not members of the Ubuntu community, share our vision and will assist us in making events like this possible. There are obviously a few niggles that need to be addressed regarding the show so that we can make the next one even better.  These we can discuss on Wednesday 6th at the next meeting.  We had planned to have a post mortem earlier than this but unfortunately due to time constraints this has not happened. You will be happy to hear that finally after much talking and turmoil the Freedom Toaster is now live and operational at Strachans Photo, 66 Nelson Mandela ave.  I must say that Kerry was the driving force behind this, he called me to his house one day and showed me his idea.  Well two full weekends later and with the help of Kalpesh, Dave Adams, myself and our ladies we made the housing and got it built and ready for the show.  Well done Kerry it looks awesome. Wednesday night meeting please can we all be prompt, meeting will start 6:30 sharp.  There is a fair amount to discuss.  I would like to introduce the freedom fone project (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="http://www.freedomfone.org">www.freedomfone.org</a>).  Since it runs on Ubuntu and it is there for the community it will be interesting to see how we can assist on this project.  In saying this, the agenda for Wednesday (Meeting to be held at Joe's place, if there is a change to this I will let you know) is : <ol> <li>Talk about the Freedom Fone</li> <li>Quick post mortem of IT show </li> <li>Release party ( planned for the 16th October) </li> <li>Members commitments, Team Structure/volunteers for tasks or projects.</li> </ol> There has been some discussion about people volunteering for tasks and not fulfilling their duties.  Please understand that since we are ALL volunteers and do not do this for commercial gain and it is VERY difficult to force people to participate in events.  So in saying this we can only grow and function by people making a concerted effort to assist and participate in events.
