Has anyone else noticed that both Open Office Calc and Excel seem
incapable of handling quadrillions? From what I can see, they handle a
maximum of 15 digits. So a figure of, for example,
5,675,675,675,675,029
is "automatically" converted to
5,675,675,675,675,020
i.e. the last digit is dropped and changed to a zero.
Obviously Zimbabwean inflation has proved too much for both Microsoft
and open source :(. If anyone has any sort of "solution" to this, please
let me know as our accounts department are getting suicidal (although in
some cases this is a good thing!).
