Hi all,

Ubuntu Zimbabwe will be holding its next monthly meeting on Wednesday 6th
August, 6.00pm for 6.30pm at Round Table JV.

Please get in touch with Neil Coetzer <ncoetzer at halsteds.co.zw> if you will
be attending so that he can liaise with the people at the venue on numbers
attending. The venue is provided free, but please remember to support the
cash bar.

Hi ALL,

I can see Ubuntu Zim is addressing interesting and important matters
some of which has been raised here on this list. These include course
material for ICDL and of course general awareness, advocacy and a
physical presence. Good work on-going and being initiated there. Would
be great if those close by could join in.

Good also to see CSZ in there. I've always pointed out that its
necessary that ZOSS should be an affiliate of CSZ where it should even
initiate a SIG.

I also note that people actively participating in Ubuntu Zim are also
active members on this list. Great to see that.

Ubuntu is probably the only Africa-oriented distro in many senses (name,
Shuttleworth, philosophy, etc) and so it makes sense that we actively
support it. ZOSS's thrust should remain broader across the FLOSS
technologies while recognising this special position of Ubuntu. Ubuntu
Zim is certainly a refreshing phenomenon!
