+1 to Derek

Personally I have been through 3 Dell Ultrabooks (I always found a way to get a new one when the company got upgrades). I never booted into Windows on any of them, Straight to a prepared Ubuntu USB installer. Usually took me about an hour to get completely up and running which included installing my preferred apps and configs. The only issue I remember having was on one of the models (I think the e7470) didnt use a synaptics touchpad and I had issues with advanced options. It worked fine, just couldn't adjust some of the scrolling options.

On Thu, Sep 13, 2018 at 4:26 PM Derek Stafford <staffordmd@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Leon,
I use a Proline i7 which came with Windows 7. I installed Ubuntu
alongside Windows (All easily done with the Ubuntu install CD or
downloaded Ubuntu iso) and have kept both operating systems
up-to-date with online upgrades. We converted my wife's Lenovo from
Windows to Ubuntu and she hasn't used Windows for about 5 years (she
finds Ubuntu easier to use and maintain).

My point is that finding a laptop with Ubuntu pre-loaded will limit
your options while installing Ubuntu on any laptop is very easy.

Kind regards
I have used a Dell xps (i5) with UBUNTU for some years, no
problems. Great machine! Used the Win7 license that came
pre-installed for a windows VM.
