[ubuntu-za] Desktop problems after normal upgrade within 16.04

Try the following ...
At the login prompt press Ctl-Alt F1
Login with user and passwd
Type
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install mate-desktop

Try to login with mate
Ctl-Alt F7
