Another option is a powerline adapter.   TP-link makes one that works
great.  You plug it into your wallplug at the router, and another adapter
in your office upstairs.  It establishes a network between the two
devices.  You plug ethernet in on both ends and voilla, you don't have to
run the ethernet cable.
