[ubuntu-za] Snaps can't access files outside Home

Hi,

I've got Chromium, Inkscape and GIMP installed as snaps on Ubuntu 18.04 
but when using these snaps I can't access any files or directories 
outside my home directory. This is frustrating as it means, for example, 
that I can't read and write files on a flash drive when using GIMP or 
Inkscape. Does anyone know how to set the permissions to get around this?
