Hi

I can't really help with the technical bits, but I believe your modem might have been mounted as a hard drive.  The dsl device 2750u is the modem and it's memory capacity is close to 200meg.  Hopefully you'll be able to do something with the info.  Bernie

Hi all,
since 18 jan I have a problem updating. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
After updating on the 18th I got an error message.

the error message is the following: It is impossible to install or remove any software.
Run 'sudo apt-get install -f in terminal'

I did
messages came back:
'dpkg was interrupted - manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a'

I did
message came back
'error: failed to open '/var/lib/dpkg/status' for writing status database
no space left on device'

but there are gigabites of space

it seems as if it is trying to find a new device called /dev/sr0 , in directory /media/DSL-275OU of type iso9660  which has apparently 124,5MiB but 0 bytes free.

I do not have such a device such as /dev/sr0                                !

But now I cannot update and I struggle to open files.

Any advice?

/dev/sr0 is usually a CD/DVD drive which would be readonly (0 bytes free). It looks like it is mounted under /media as DSL-275OU.
Try ejecting any cd's then check your sources to see if you have a CD enabled (starts with "deb cdrom:...") and uncheck/disable it if there is (can be re-enabled later if you need it).
Run sudo apt-get update in a terminal and see if you still get the error.

Hi all, I ran the commands suggested here
1)  I cleared the CD rom drive - there had been a CD in there - now its out
2)  I did do sudo apt-get update - see in attachment (I cannot copy/send it from that PC)

as well as 3)   sudo dpkg --configure -a  -  see result

so no luck so far - and System Monitor acknowledges that there are not another unaccounted drive or CD drive or anything else - which is hogging the space - there is lots of space, but somethiething is broken
What to do now?
Rusty
