[ubuntu-za] Network connection issues - Wifi

Hi, on another computer with Ubuntu12.04 I easily connected with a new 
wifi dongle - it just worked out of the box, know not why or how, but it 
worked - as it should with Buntu.

NOW however I have to connect to another PC, also with Ubuntu 12.04 and 
I cannot get the Network connection to START SEARCHING WIFI. The 
wireless area does not even show on the drop-down box.
When I go to Wireless and ADD, I enter the name of the ADSL router but 
do not understand to enter the items under Wireless SSID etc

I have tried what I could. Any help would be appreciated.
