 Hi

Also available from ppa:aims/aims-desktop for precise and trusty
(standalone desktop version).

sudo -E apt-add-repository -y ppa:aims/aims-desktop
sudo -E apt-get update
sudo -E apt-get -y install rstudio-upstream-deb

It repackages the deb from the RStudio site, so you can get dependencies
and updates.
Note they build it on lucid, but it works fine on precise and trusty. On
between-LTS releases get the deb from their site.

See more at https://launchpad.net/~aims
Installing all of aims-desktop pulls codecs, latex, texmaker, scipy, R,
Rstudio, Sagemath, Ipython, and more.

Regards,
Jan
