Hi,

Glad to hear it works. I wonder if it just works for one session 
though? As a test, you could try logging out and logging back in and 
then click on the new Thunderbird icon that got locked to the launcher 
in the previous session again. If it spawns another Thunderbird icon, I 
would say it is bug and would probably need to be filed on 
launchpad.net against the unity package (ubuntu-bug unity).
