Hi Stefano,

I seem to have problems with my sticks - they just fail when written to 
- when gparted they just reverted to unallocated.

So I studied some more and have spare usb drive - now using that with 
usb-disk-creator.
Works fine after some trial and error.
Installed linux-mint13 with this drive on another spare usb drive. . It 
just went and fast.
Will now use this method and if the install went good I will write the 
iso to cd/dvd.
BTW trying out mint13 - looks fine.
