[ubuntu-za] Monthly meeting agenda?

Hi All

Sorry I will be at a municipal meeting at that time, but I am a retired
end-user anyhow so don't think I can contribute much.

If you want, you could ask if anyone knows why Ubuntu switched to
Thunderbird from Evolution as the default mail client ?

After using Ubuntu since 5.04 I upgraded to 12.04.1 Precise Pangolin
across 384Kb internet connection.
When Contacts gave the message : "Error loading address book: Invalid
source" I realised Evolution was damaged. Then the .evolution folder
showed only an empty Tasks folder.

I read many posts on Ask Ubuntu and Ubuntu Launchpad and I tried
starting evolution --offline several times after copying back folders
from my .evolution backup with no success.

After your reassurance I removed Evolution and re-installed and found
Mail folders were kept, but addresses were still missing? So in the end
I rebuilt most from old emails after wasting many hours; too stubborn to
give up?

While browsing Ubuntu forums for answers, I see quite a few complaints
about Thunderbird that make me even more curious about the switch .

Maybe my needs as a home user are simple enough for Evolution. Business
users may not be satisfied?

Kind regards. Chas I
