[ubuntu-za] Slow boot hard drive issue

Hi Guys

My Ubuntu boots really slow almost 2.5 minutes. (I know for Windows
this is normal, but for Ubuntu I'm used to 1 minute, even though I've
got an old laptop)

I looked at /var/log/syslog and can identify two places where the boot
process has long delays. From this it looks like there might be a hard
drive issue. I've installed a brand new 750GB hard drive, so this is
surprising...

Below are extracts from the syslog. I'm hoping someone can help me
determine the cause or might have some ideas on how to fix it....

Here ata1 is identified as the CDROM and ata3 as the hard drive...
