:)  the easiest way to get to your downloads would be to go to ~/Downloads
(that will skip the need to use your username)...

Shawn,

Not sure if Jaunty had a "Downloads" folder. I think they introduced this
with Lucid.

You can make a Downloads folder

mkdir ~/Downloads

The ~/ is just a shortening of

/home/<username>/Downloads

If you read the manual it should explain all this.
