[ubuntu-za] problems with java script

Sorry, I'm using Firefox 3.6.15 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686;
en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110303.
Somewhere along the line it was suggested I reinstall Java? I did a
synaptic blits and downloaded things Java. Then when that seemed to
have no effect, I downloaded Java script from somewhere? as
recommended by Linux? -or, maybe Ubuntu? or Ubuntu forum? I
couldn't install it? Then one day I thought it had loaded - and for a
while it seemed fine then the yellow bar reappeared, bottom of window,
to tell me, on almost every page, that I should allow Java script -
the option column on the right of the yellow bar offers things like
allow: "the site being blocked or limited" or " temporarily allow the
whole page". And that is where I am - most pages ask that Java be
activated/allowed/installed/upgraded... I've tried to check all the
possible settings choices - I think I'm missing something?

Thanks
Shawn
