While the British interned captured Boers and sent them to remote 
locations like Bermuda, so reducing their numbers even more, the Boers 
were forced to release the captured rooineks, so they took all their 
clothes and equipment and sent them on their way.

My late father, born in 1900, remembered the day when he saw naked men 
marching up the main street of Lichtenburg. He later learnt that they 
were British soldiers that had been so released.
