At least these debates generate traffic on the lists ;-) 

Comparing DOS apples and CLI oranges is a logical fallacy. 

CLI displays and captures information in a different yet functional and powerful manner, albeit misunderstood.

Some people like clickety-clicks, others talk to their PC's with direct commands.

No right or wrong, just more jobs for us who can talk to the hardware.

CLI ... it's 2012 already!  
Use the cli and remain in the last century. 
Making such a recommendation will keep Ubuntu as a minor techie based OS. It's like telling unhappy Win7 users to go back to DOS.
