I am pretty sure this was due to the one server  had to be rebooted or
possibly because of the high high number of users doing online
upgrades it might be failing. I am pretty sure this isn't a "online
upgrade is broken in 9.10" and rather some or other situation is
affecting it ie one of the mirrors is having issues or your Internet
connection is being over loaded or XYZ

This is something that happens quite often on the day of release
because every one is trying to upgrade at the same time.

I suggest trying it again before bed or trying again in the morning.
