Miles,

I have made the switch from windows to mac about 4 years ago and have
switch completely to ubuntu (work and home) about 6 months ago.

I find listening to the goinglinux podcast very informative and I am
still listing to the podcast currently. The podcast is for newbies and
switches.

Go to www.goinglinux.com

Hope this will help you to climb the learning curve faster.

Regards
Andre
