[ubuntu-za] List Samba users

hello all ...

i had a samba server set up for a small office in my hometown.
nothing too fancy, just a simple fileserver, with some basic rules and 
permissions for folders and stuff..

but, a couple of months back i got cut off from maintaining the server, 
since i had some problems with the boss (he thought he didnt need any 
more maintenance, since the server wasnt giving any more problems for 
some weeks). but well. after a few months, i got a call from a friend of 
mine who works at the company, saying that he was away on vacation, and 
when he came back he forgot his username and password.

i was looking inside some forums, but couldnt find any decent information...

is there anyway i can list the smbpasswd users?
i just need to know what the username is, since i remembered his 
password was pretty simple as "username12345"

ive read somewhere that there is a file located in /etc/samba/smbpasswd 
but i couldnt find it.

its running ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10, cant remember for sure,

can someone help?
