I agree.  Before jumping to conclusions read up on subliminal messages - 
it can be used for good - as with any tool, it can be abused.  Dean 
Koontz wrote a good novel about it some time back I remember.  Anyways, 
given the application for benefit, I would think opensource would be a 
good platform as the code would be available for any scrutinize and 
users can be well informed via man pages(!) should they wish to empower 
themselves.

It always amazes me how things can turn nasty at a drop of a hat.  Open 
source could never have flourished had people not found a way to work 
with each other and treat each other with respect - my 2c.
