This one did it for me 
http://www.ubuntux.org/how-to-use-an-ipod-with-ubuntu, managed to get 
gtikpod running sort of. It can play any file but still has some trouble 
copying. Get an error message which isn't readable. Will try opening it 
in terminal to see what is happening. Thanks for the help.
