I've used wireless keyboards for years, and never really had a problem.
Not enough to warrant a cable, at least. I have a cheap set of
rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, which I just swap out every few
months, recharge, and keep in the desk drawer.

The only issue you need to consider is the response time of your mouse.
Some (especially the smaller, cheaper ones) take a second to wake up, if
you haven't used them for a few minutes, which can be annoying. This is
one reason I still use my old Microsoft wireless mouse, though I've long
since turfed the matching keyboard. (You need a spare USB slot for a
second wireless dongle if you do that, so it's only really practical on
a fixed desktop setup.)
