[ubuntu-za] flash disk recovery

Hi all

Client flash disk went south.....

under ubuntu does not mount
in windows, drive comes up but says insert disk when I try to access it. 
(neither getdataback or recovermyfiles recognises it!)

I recall a year or so ago I recovered data off a mates flsh drive in 
Ubuntu... but can't remember how... sigh age....

soooo, how do I get to try and recover the data?
