Hi,

I used this forum to get my usb modem to work and it works ok.
(It's actually for a Nokia DKU cable connection, but it works)
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=166617

Then go to file /etc/wvdial.conf. and change ( as ROOT user )

From

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/modem
Baud = 115200
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ISDN = 0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
; Phone = <Target Phone Number>
; Username = <Your Login Name>
; Password = <Your Password>

TO

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0 <output of sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf>
Baud = 230400
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ISDN = 0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = <isp dialup number>
Username = <isp user name>
Password = <isp password>
Stupid Mode = 1 < add this line>

You have to be root user to change the file.
So log in as root and change the file and save it, then log back in as user.

Then use sudo wvdial to dail up from terminal window.
NOTE: don’t close terminal window just minimize it other wise your
connection will be lost.

It Should work.

Louis.
