You're right. This has been a lot of effort in search of a very small
result, but I don't like to give up on something I've started, and it
hasn't been wasted. I may not have reached my goal, but I have learnt a
lot from the responses along the way, for which I am grateful.

However, time to call it quits, at least for now. Meanwhile I'll press
the numlock key with my finger, which came installed on the original
package - software included.
