I'm pretty sure i915g is being actively maintained and developed; IIRC
the ChromeBooks use i915g.  It is, as Erwin says, more featureful than
i915.

i965g is indeed unmaintained and (as far as I'm aware) never did
anything much more than lock up the GPU.
