If you're up for experimenting, I have uploaded the intel driver from
git master to the xorg-edgers PPA for Intrepid
(https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive). The PPA has latest drm
modules and libs, the stable branches of mesa and xorg, but no GEM
branches and such. Unfortunately I don't have intel hardware so I
haven't checked if it actually works.
